In 2016, Charles Johnson walked into a hospital expecting to welcome his second son. Hours later, his wife Kira Dixon Johnson — a vibrant, healthy woman — was gone. She bled internally for over 10 hours while Charles and his family begged for help. That tragedy became the catalyst for a movement.
Since that day, Charles has testified before Congress twice, helped pass federal legislation including the Momnibus Act, led a federal investigation into Cedars-Sinai, and built 4Kira4Moms into a nationally recognized force for maternal health equity. He is a single father raising two sons while fighting to ensure no family endures what his did.
